I went through a training camp where they wanted us to wear "sports underwear that doesn't open your eyes". That's what I thought when I received it. They are perfectly legal. I have a big butt and wide hips, so I grew up. They actually stretch pretty well and stay in place decently enough. They looked like tight shorts to me. It was like they went through my stomach and up to mid-thigh and stayed there if I was good enough in the water or not getting too high. To be honest I can't tell if they are transparent because I've been training at night and these shorts are black, I'm black so I don't know. However, they are comfortable and if you wear them as underwear they are pretty decent too.
