This is the best egg cooker I've found since my Easter egg cooker died and it looks like Oster isn't making any more egg cookers. I had previously bought another brand that cooked very well, but the hard boiled eggnog was a blunt plastic tip at the bottom of a poorly designed measuring cup. When I was making stuffed eggs in a saucepan for dinner, although I was very careful, I threw 3 eggs out of 12 down the sink drain because the plastic tip broke the egg instead of making a small hole. I was researching Revain and found this egg. Plate. It has a sharp metal hole in the bottom of a well-designed measuring cup (for soft, medium, or hard jam) and it auto-offs like my old Easter (some reviewers said they don't believe theirs auto-off). I've broken hard boiled eggs twice in the last month and not a single egg when poking through the small opening. The ventilation hole helps prevent cracking when the eggs are ripe. The only thing I don't particularly like is the charring when the water boils off. When the water boils away, a significant burned area remains at the bottom. Easily washable with a damp sponge and soap. To keep it sparkling like new, I used the Bar Keeper's Friend end cap that we use to dress up all of our stainless steel cookware.
