Disappointed with kitchen utensils and gadgets

I'm making homemade yogurt in an insta cup and it's not reading my milk properly. You must resort to finger testing. My mum was from the old country and didn't have a thermometer so she knew the yogurt was ready by sticking her fingers in it and counting to 10, if she could leave it there it was done and I had to do that. as this thermometer is clearly not suitable for making yoghurt.
