I usually sit on the sidelines and just read reviews, but it worries me when people post misinformed reviews that can take people away from a perfectly good product. First off, this is no ordinary protein powder. This product contains hydrolyzed whey protein, which your body absorbs much better than other forms of whey, especially whey concentrate (check the labels on most protein powders and see which protein is listed first, it's likely a concentrate). Concentrate is easy to make and is one of the least effective forms of whey. It's not that it doesn't work, but a lot of them turn to waste. Also, because hydrolyzed whey is better metabolized, it has the added benefit of being easier on the stomach (protein shakes aren't always for everyone). The reason hydrolyzed whey is more expensive is because the purification process is much more difficult and the yield at the end of the process is much lower. The biggest downside to hydrolyzed whey is the taste. Hydrolyzed proteins are usually very bitter. ON Platinum Whey tastes phenomenal for a hydrolyzed whey product. If you just want a delicious milkshake and don't care about the quality of the protein, then look elsewhere. This brings me to the biggest problem of many reviewers. Please stop comparing apples to pears. Yes, it is more expensive than ON Gold Whey, but for the reasons above, there are additional production costs and resulting additional benefits for the consumer. 1 gram of whey concentrate is not equivalent to 1 gram of hydrolyzed whey. So stop comparing it gram for gram to Whey Gold. It's not just marketing hype, they sell it like platinum because it's the best product. I've been using this product for over a year and have tried many other brands, but this is by far the best tasting hydrolyzed whey formula. through my experience. There may be purer hydrolyzed whey, but the bitterness causes nausea. This is a great product from a reputable company. It's not magic and it's not perfect, there's nothing. Hydrolyzed whey is not for everyone. I agree with other reviewers, do your research. Just make sure you're comparing apples to apples, the nutritional information doesn't tell the whole story. Read the ingredients.
