I love using my Food Saver vacuum sealer, but the bags are so expensive they kind of spoil the fun. Every time I used a bag, I thought about how much money it had cost me. So I looked for other options and found these and they are great. They are exactly the size I needed. The price is affordable so I don't hesitate to freeze as much as I want. I also bought them because I wanted to try my hand at sous vide cooking and they are thick enough to do it. The rolls are large so they don't fit in most seals, but I was able to slip the roll into the compartment to cut open the bag. Much easier than scissors. But even if I had to use scissors, these bags (and their great price) are worth buying. The bags appear to be of good quality. I had no trouble sealing them. Time will tell if they keep their seal, but I don't expect to. The width of this bag is also perfect for me to freeze portions of pasta sauce, chili, soups etc before vacuum sealing. I found the Glad bins to be perfect for 8 inch wide bags. The containers I use hold 25 oz, 3 1/8 cups. frozen, I simply rinse the container with warm water to release the food, then place the frozen piece in a grocery bag. (Be sure to wipe the top of the bag before sealing to remove any moisture.) I also use these containers to store cooked meats like a hamburger that I can thaw and use for instant tacos, sloppy joe, and chili. Because the food is frozen in chunks, the pouches don't lay as flat as I'd like, but the ease with which they seal is a compromise I can live with. I've also used smaller containers. Another reason I ordered rolls was that I could choose the length myself. Another benefit of using freezer containers is that fats and oils do not 'smear' the bags, making the bags impossible to reuse. The food is placed frozen and if you pour water on the bag long enough to release the food, you can easily reuse the bag! Simply toss frozen food into a container or bowl to thaw. I will love using these freezer bags and trying them out for sous vide cooking. I will definitely order these bags again and again.
