Review on Gamepad HORI Fighting EDGE PS4 / PC, black by Stanislaw Mielicki ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I didn't expect the quality to be so high.

Because of the square gate (gate) is suitable primarily for tekken fighters, where clear diagonals are more important than quarter circles / semicircles. For guilty gear and street fighter, I would go with an octagon and a sanwa stick. About the device. Firstly, the build quality and components are top notch. Everything is done to the conscience, nothing creaks, does not stagger. The dimensions are impressive, there is more than enough space for hands. To prevent the stick from slipping, rubberized inserts are provided at the bottom. For carrying from the sides there are very convenient recesses. The brushed aluminum top panel is fingerprint resistant and easy to clean. It also has laser engraved logos and button names. The buttons themselves are slightly rough and pleasant to the touch, and also very sensitive. Large enough that you can hit them even with two fingers. When struck, they make a clear, loud sound. The hayabusa stick jerks left/right, up/down almost instantly returns to neutral, without rebounds in the opposite direction. However, if you quickly make a quarter circle / half circle and throw it in neutral, it can fly anywhere. Since you have to enter commands quickly, this can be a problem. We'll have to either not throw a stick, or put a stiffer spring. Secondly, ergonomics and responsiveness. The layout of the main eight buttons is perfect, it is very difficult to miss them even blindly. The rest of the buttons, touchpad and headphone output are also in their places, you can't imagine better. The three-meter USB cable is hidden in a lockable compartment with a hole for the wire, so it is unlikely to bend it, and besides, it is very thick. Among other things, Fighting EDGE received a top-end PCB with almost zero input lag, which only loses to the Brook Design Universal Fighting Board (10 out of 100, judging by the tests). Third, compatibility. Everything connects without problems, the controller is detected as it should on both the PC and the console, without dancing with a tambourine. In general, it is definitely a bargain and a good choice for any fighter.

Pros
  • Build quality and components. Low input lag.
Cons
  • The spring would be stiffer on a stick. Modding of the top cover is not provided.
