Don't know if this was an isolated case but the threaded insert was very difficult to screw into the housing. However, once installed it performed like a champ with no tension adjustment required to install 3/8" rivets. Remember NOT TO TIGHTEN! It doesn't take much force to roll the rivet properly. Used it to install a ladder on the back door of my truck. After reading about the disadvantages of the self-tapping screws in this kit, I took the advice of another stair reviewer and used rivets. There was good advice.
