I don't need silicone based sealer. I think leather needs to breathe, so I tried Skidmore on these boots. As with many shoe care products, it is best to rub with your bare hands. Slightly darkens the skin. Water drips onto the boot, but it's not waterproof. I think Skidmore makes another product that is waterproof. The photo shows a darker version with application and another untreated so you can see how much darker the treatment makes the skin. For my taste it's ok. I love that it's non-toxic and made in the USA.
