Disclaimer: Cools your car like a beast! (Read test results)

So I have a 2002 Lexus IS 300 (manual). To put the situation in perspective, I installed: a Mishimoto cooler with a 1.3 bar cap. with an aftermarket cover with two thin fans. (later replaced by a single Mishimoto fan) Standard 2jz-ge with an iron block runs from 180 to 200F. (This will be important for reference) I tested two unbranded slim fans that came with the cover when the ambient temperature was 100 degrees Fahrenheit and the sun was shining and got a reading of 225 degrees Fahrenheit at an average speed of 70 miles per hour on a a long stretch of freeway that included stop-and-go traffic. (AC at max.) I ran the same test on a Mishimoto MMFAN-12HD (disclaimer: it's a fat boy). Only one fan had the ability to get my coolant temp below 180F by sitting at 170F (AC on max). This fan is just amazing. I literally had to drive like crazy on a hot summer day just for it to barely reach its minimum operating temperature of 180F. Overall I think this fan did its job too well. I used my IS300 as a reference for others to see if they could benefit from adding this fan. If you reproduce the list of upgrades I have or I have similar parts, I cannot understand why this fan or installation will not work for you, especially if you track your car or drive it vigorously on country roads.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • So-so
