I have several old receivers from the 70's (Pioneer, Kenwood, Marantz, Onkyo) and they work great. The set screw is quite long and using good quality 14 gauge wire they were easy to assemble. They fit into the receiver's speaker outputs and speaker inputs and fit snugly into the grooves machined on the pins. The rubber boot closes and insulates well and prevents pinching. I thought that maybe the problem is that they are straight and not bent at 45°. nope I have several sets of speakers that I switch between using a connector board purchased from Parts Express. Connecting multiple sets of speakers is now very easy. If you do, you'll never go back to the "twisted wire" routine again. Also the best and guaranteed connection.
