I keep getting new accessories for the new 21 Honda Accord Hybrid and this was one of them. I didn't want to buy those other handlebar covers that don't fit well and are too thick. The Accord's steering wheel is quite springy. But I also wanted a small project, something that can be customized. What could be better than a handmade steering wheel cover. It's quite pretty with a wide range of colors and also how you actually sew it will really make it yours. Although not made from genuine leather, this microfiber leather is pleasant to the touch, has a good grip, and has light perforations and contrasting stitching. This is a tight fit and it may take a few minutes to mount the handlebars. I feel like it adds just the right amount of displacement to the steering wheel. Other pre-made grips would have made the handlebars too thick for my liking. But that's right. I also like that the thread/binding of the accent color is customizable as well. I choose blue for the hybrid. The hardest part is the actual embroidery design that you choose. I had to look up how to put it on on youtube and there are about 5 different styles/patterns to follow. In the end I went with the simple one as I'm fat and not very flexible and can't move around the handlebars to create more complex patterns. But what you have to do is literally sew thread around the handlebars to secure it. It's not fast and you can cut yourself and get stuck with a needle if you're not careful or tired. Which has happened to me several times. But in the end, it's nice to know that you've put some time and energy into wrapping your steering wheel. It's not for everyone, but if you feel like it, it will end up being fun. If you have an old steering wheel that needs an electronic coating or you're just trying to protect a new steering wheel from the sun's rays, this is a great option.
