I received this kettle this morning and spent half a day playing around with it. There are a number of things that have not been addressed in other reviews so I'll try to address them right here: - Is there any plastic that comes in contact with water? YUP! There is a small hanging piece of mesh/plastic where the spout is (shown in some photos). It's plastic, and when you pour water in it, it touches that piece of plastic. However, the plastic doesn't touch the water while it's boiling. How does it turn on / working temperature? As soon as you press the power button, it starts cooking immediately. While the light is on, it heats up. When I first plugged it in I couldn't tell if it was on or not, but believe me - when the light is on it means it's heating up! There are multiple temperature settings from 60°C to 100°C AND a warmer setting that keeps the water warm (about 30 minutes I guess). To access this warmer mode, you must press and hold the power button for 3 seconds (flashing red). Other Notes: When you turn on the kettle, it will beep. This beep is actually quite loud, much louder than my microwave. It will also beep when the water is ready and turn off automatically. The power cord isn't very long, maybe 2 1/2 feet, so you'll need to keep it where you plug it in (I don't have many plugs in my kitchen). Overall it seems pretty solid, but that's about all I've had. to find out for yourself, so hopefully if you're interested this will help you too!
