No 74 " cable, no instructions

Bought in October to prepare for a cold office. I pulled it out to use today and the cord is nowhere near 74 inches long. The note in the box says to follow the instructions but there are none. Pressing the fingerprint button reveals some temperatures, but they're in Celsius. I would return it if I could as the short cord makes it unsuitable for desktop use which was the reason for the purchase.
