Ideally, NO programming is required; I have ordered another one.
We bought 4 TCL TVs last year when they were on sale at Costco and we really like them. One remote had a mute button that just got stuck in the "on" or mute position after about 8 months of use. This replacement was perfect. It works on all 4 TCL kits; Just insert batteries and all buttons work great. No programming. The difference between this and the original is that the dedicated streaming buttons (four below) are red, green, blue, etc. but have no labels. I'll be buying another one tonight to have spares if they ever turn up.
