No loss of sound as the microphone is lapel-mounted and moves with you. The sound sensor of this microphone is omnidirectional and definitely makes a positive difference when using it. I picked this mic after doing some research on the mics I could use with my iPad and iPhone to improve the onboard sound. This one is perfect for my use and at twenty dollars the price was right too.
