When my previous DeLonghi toaster blew up due to smoke coming out of the vent, I knew it was time for a replacement. I have always treasured the DeLonghi name. I did some research and although it didn't have the same high reviews it used to have, I followed my gut instinct and ordered the DeLonghi again. This is a beautiful toaster. The dial for changing various settings, time and temperature was easy to master. The glass is insulated so that you don't feel any heat radiating outwards. I had to call customer service because there were no instructions on how to defrost and even the representative had to tell me the best way to do it. Hit and miss and now I get it. The toaster MUST be pushed to the edge of the counter (a little annoying) EVERY time I use it so the handle hangs off the edge of the counter. If I don't, the door will slowly close and I could burn myself. You also need to change the grate from the rim. Then the crumb tray is another annoying problem. I like to clean my oven often to keep it clean. Well, it's so tight it's pulling on the seal around the door glass. I tuck it under the crumb tray so it doesn't loosen or tear the seal. The support rep said I didn't have to do this and it wouldn't hurt the seal. I am not sure as it is very dense. As you can see, I like the way the toaster works, but it has some very annoying aspects that I'm concerned with. I think DeLonghi's name isn't one of the most popular names anymore, and I'm sorry to say that.
