It's cute and great for summer but after 2 washes the fabric ripped

It looks so cute on my son, the fabric feels breezy and perfect for my toddler outdoors...but after 2 light ones Cycles machine wash sews or the fabric is ripped and torn... if you can hand wash that would be great...
