These weights are heavy enough to keep sauerkraut underwater. They are well made and have no corners or edges. However, once in place, they are difficult to manipulate as it is very difficult to grab the "handle" when the charge is wet, and this becomes even more difficult because it fits the wide-necked jug very tightly . A comfortable grip would be a big improvement.
