I bought several of these and use them on my 220F wort pump and cooker. The o-rings in the picture are already installed in the housing, so no assembly is required. The barb is on the female end and the 1/2" NPT is on the male end. Use tape to attach the NPT. However, I would recommend using a little sanitary gel on the o-rings to make it work. They are a bit small when you first use them, they get stiff. You need two hands to work. One-handed adjustment is tricky - you have to pull on the retaining ring while squeezing the knot to lock it in place. You're not going anywhere. Circuit breakers are solid and heavy. They should last forever.
