I use this to crack pecans in the shell. The tips/points of each individual pecan must be centered in the round cylindrical pieces of metal on each side, and then it takes VERY great hand strength to lower the "cracker's" hand in order to crack each pecan. I am fit and have good shoulder strength thanks to yoga, pilates, barre and walking with our 3 Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. I still have to press the burglar lever VERY hard for this thing to work! Sometimes he breaks the shell into "shards" and sometimes he cracks pecans. Good Slowly and unevenly, each pecan cracks individually. Thank God I'm snacking on several pecans! You can't crack too many pecans at once. This cracker is not very durable and moves easily.
