Good way to burn down your house.
I was really surprised when this Bluetooth 5 dongle started smoking as soon as I plugged it in. I immediately turned off the computer and tried to remove the key, but it was too hot; The plastic parts have melted. I let it cool a bit and removed the pieces with tongs. For the record, I don't have this problem with other keys.
