This works for a 2005 Scion tC. The loop is thicker than the original key and the button works better! Very well made and doesn't require a gigantic amount of know-how or strength (plastic breaks easily). How did I do this! You'll destroy the old key while removing the chip you need to start the engine (there's a tiny NFC chip glued to the fob and the engine won't start without it). Step 1: Home Depot has the matching sharpener for the key. I believe this is box B. Make a key first. Don't put all the parts together completely (so keep all the buttons, panel, and case separate until you install the chip). Step 2: Test the key to make sure it works. You can do this by holding the old key next to the ignition switch and turning the key normally. If your key won't turn at all, you may need to redo it. Don't break your old key until you have a working key. Step 3: Using a flathead screwdriver, open the key in the notch in the top hinge. You must hand in both the keyless entry package and the hidden security chip. Step 4: Put the keyless fob (one that pulls out easily) into the pocket with the new key. I kept them in a zipped bag so I wouldn't lose them. Step 5: Now break the key to get at the chip once it is glued in place. Be careful not to damage the chip. I broke away from the inner plastic and used the plastic surrounding the chip as reference points. I didn't use pliers on the chip itself so as not to break it. Step 6: Once you've detached the chip (this may take a while, but be patient), use a razor blade to scrape off all of the glue. I held mine with pliers and scraped until the chip was clean. Step 7: Install the chip in the same small recess of the new key. The chip fits very snugly, so you need to line it up perfectly for it to start sliding. Once you start getting it it should be easy. I had to use pliers to push it all the way into the indentation, and I regret not putting a cloth on the outside of the button to prevent abrasion of the plastic. Step 8: Install the buttons, trim the keyless entry and snap the body into place. They all fit in just one place so don't really force it. Step 9: Save big and show off in front of everyone. :D
