I am a runner and have owned a modified (rockboxed) Sansa Clip Zip for over ten years. My battery ran out recently so I bought this MP3 player for two main functions: play music on fast runs and play audiobooks 2x faster when I'm on light runs. At 66 grams, this player is significantly heavier than the Sansa, which weighs around 25 grams. I can attach it to shorts but not a shirt. You feel it bounce as you walk. Putting it in my pocket solved the problem. The sound quality is just OK, comparable to Sansa, maybe a bit worse. There is an "Equalizerโ function so you can choose from presets like rock, pop, jazz. but can not set every band. The player is not designed for audio books. If you turn it off or switch to music, you'll lose your place in the book file. There may be a bookmark feature, but I can't use it in the middle of a run. However, variable speed is a real deal breaker. You can choose playback speed from 2 to 8 but they are totally wrong. At 8X speed, it only plays 1.33X faster than the original. A 60-second clip will play in 45 seconds, which is only slightly faster. Bluetooth goes well with my JBL portable speaker, all music functions work as described. If you're looking for a small MP3 player for music and aren't too picky about sound quality, this will probably suit you, but if you're a runner or listen to audio books, look elsewhere. No progress has been made in affordable compact MP3 players in the last decade. The best device is still the discontinued 12-year-old Sansa Clip Zip running Rockbox software. Sigh.
