The wands are made of thin, light metal and very cheaply built. The spring tension mechanism is a great concept in theory, but these bars don't work well in practice. The feather is slightly "de-feathered" and the wands fall off when hit lightly. Part of the problem is the cheap plastic caps on the ends of the bars. They don't provide enough "grip" to the surface to which the bars are attached, allowing the spring to easily come out of its spring-loaded position. The caps don't provide enough friction to hold the springs and rods in place. I would not buy this item again. They're not 100% useless, but pretty close.
