Multifunctional cross-cut model instead of Micro-Dot Shredder

I haven't had a shredder for a few years; I left my trusty old Fellowes to my ex-husband so I needed them, especially now that I'm working from home. I've always had good luck with the Fellowes brand so I ordered this model. When I first got it, I thought it looked like a hard case with 4 wheels. Wow, those "suitcases" have come a long way. The listing for the LX11C shows how feature rich it is for a family or very small business (1-3 or 4 people). You never know if a product will live up to its hype, but I really enjoy this model. However, it has an average level of privacy, which I will explain in this review. What I like about this shredder: - This model is great at shredding up to 16 sheets at a time. It can also chew on staples, paper clips, and credit cards. I had no problem with 16 sheets, but I stopped trying to see where the limit was. The fact that he also likes to chew on metal and plastic is only found in heavy or commercial models. minutes (commercial models tend to be 30 minutes.) That 20 minutes is more than a lot of home service shredders out there, and as long as you're shredding on the go and don't have to shred for years in one sitting, this model should do the trick for families or small businesses . - Some of the other features include security features. One thing is jam prevention, which looks for paper that's too thick clogging the blade (I haven't had that hit because I'm careful about what and how much paper I put in, but it should refuse if you're trying to stuff too much to put it in.) There's also a finger/paw sensor near the shredder's opening that turns it off automatically (I personally leave it off, too, because you just never know.) - This one shredder is really quiet. I was surprised at how quiet it is compared to my old Fellowes I used and the commercial one at work. About Cross-Crushing This Paper Shredder: - Ultimately, you buy a paper shredder to protect the privacy of your documents, and this model falls in the middle of the scale from least to most secure. This is a cross section model, not a micro section version. Both are much better than the old strip cutter printers which only produced 30-40 strips per sheet of paper and would have been fairly easy to assemble. The cross-cut shredder shreds 300-400 small pieces of paper both horizontally and vertically, while the micro-cut shredder produces 4000-6000 pieces of confetti. If your budget allows you to buy the LX21M or LX22M version of this shredder, they have a micro-slicing feature. (Another benefit of a microcutter is that you can put more sheets of paper in the bin so you don't have to empty it often, and the less it shreds and the more paper in a stack, the less likely someone is to get in able to collect your content).- Personally, I only destroy things like credit card applications, medical reports, not anything that contains a lot of personal information. This transverse model is suitable for such things. If you are shredding things that contain very important information, consider switching to a micro-cut shredder. About some of the features it doesn't have: - You can't shred DVD/CD, cardboard, sticky or laminated items with this printer - It doesn't have a document feeder that can be found in some commercial shredders. It has good trash capacity, there is no clear compartment to see how full it is. (Although the basket is fully lit). Overall, this grinder is a good choice for typical home use. It will last if used as directed, being careful not to put too much in at once or the wrong types of stuff. If you need a high level of privacy, consider upgrading to Model M over Model C.
