It's not really an airtight seal
I have this old style seal but it doesn't stay open like the new version. Unfortunately, this version isn't stable unless you screw the included brackets into the wall to hold the press mount. Not what I wanted, but we're keeping it. We'll have to tiptoe around these gates to avoid accidentally hitting them or moving and breaking loose. Unless you plan on screwing the brackets into the wall I wouldn't recommend gates, especially as security gates.
