I have experience with real negative ion generators and this one doesn't work at all. The ones that work make a quiet hiss and create a gentle puff of air from the graphite bristles. Not this device. While the bristles appear to be related to the mains voltage, the circuit doesn't appear to be generating enough boost voltage to create negative ions. I suspect the scheme is for China. The voltage is 230V, so 120V US is not enough to create an ionization effect. Therefore, the device is unusable for the US market and should not be sold in the US.
