Review on Alpha Living Tortilla Pataconera 50421 by Miles Barney

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Updated: Powerful Tortilla Press. Deformed or uneven.

Arrived quickly and in very good condition. It is very heavy and was delivered disassembled. Assembly was easy enough, just unscrew the bolt, slide it back over the handle and reinstall the nut. Obviously use common sense as no instructions were provided. When I opened the device I noticed some flaws. In any case, this is typical of cast iron work, so it doesn't matter. It had small holes and protrusions. This can cause the tortillas to stick, so I would suggest using paper to press the tortilla dough in. The top panel measures 7 1/8 inches and the bottom panel measures 7 3/8 inches. It also has two lifting tabs on either side of the top panel. It is good for left-handers or right-handers. Looking at it through profile I noticed that it has a small gap running through it. It's perfect. That way you won't mash your tortillas so thin that they can't be used. The outer coating looks a bit uneven. I hope it won't peel off after prolonged use and cleaning. But since I use paper to press the dough for the tortillas, I guess it doesn't matter. Unless, of course, you're one of those people who get really upset about the look of your home appliances. It weighs 4.6 pounds. So after eating all those delicious flatbreads, you can use them to work out. The box says the press is made in China, or maybe it's a box made in China, I'm not sure. Also, it appears to be a powerful tortilla press. I am very happy with the purchase and the price. Looking forward to using mine tonight. UPDATE: So I used it and had some problems with it. He's twisted. It flattens and squashes on one side to the point where it becomes unusable. On the other hand, it remains thick and not flattened. It was more like a wedge shaped doorstop. After baking six or seven flatbreads, which resulted in the same slurp, which resulted in more of a stain on the same side, I gave up. I ended up going back to my old 6 inch press. I can't say they're all like that, but this one definitely shook. It doesn't even give you abs. Even if you turn the cake over after the first gentle squeeze. You will only get more smeared pages. It was too much work and too much trouble.
