"I love this camera," my eight-year-old daughter said to me as we used the Sprocket 2-in-1 together. I have to agree with her. This little gadget is a lot of fun. I understand why it's so attractive to her. Your generation almost never sees real printed photographs. Your world is digital. She's too small to have a phone and I don't allow her to take her tablet to school so she can't show her classmates her new toy or what she did last weekend. This device changes all that. She loved taking and printing her own photos. Sticky prints were the icing on the cake. She happily decorated her portfolio, to show her friends at school all her favorite things. If you're still not entirely sure what it is or what it does, think of it like a 21st-century Polaroid camera. I definitely had memories of my own childhood and the thrill of having my own photos developed right away on the spot. The Sprocket 2 in 1 can be used in two ways to print photos in seconds. One way is to use it as a camera. Open the viewfinder, press to take a photo, and your photo will print instantly. You can also use it with a phone or tablet and the free Sprocket app. The app gives you the added bonus of editing your picture, adding stickers, drawing on it and adding other fun effects. Once your photo is the way you want it, send it to Sprocket (connect via Bluetooth) and it will print. I personally prefer the app but takes away the fun of "instant" photography. The downside of using Sprocket as a camera for me was that you can't preview the image before printing. As soon as you click to take a photo, it starts typing. The viewfinder is a bit small and difficult to see through so we wasted 3 sheets out of 10 in the first pack on bad or misaligned photos. The paper isn't cheap, so I didn't want to waste a single sheet. Sprocket comes with 10 photo papers and this kit adds 20 more sheets, giving you a total of 30 prints with this pack. However, the camera is surprisingly good. Much better than I expected considering how much is packed into this compact device. I shot outdoors late at night as the sun was setting on a cloudy day. The images are very bright and colorful. We tried to shoot an action with my daughter spinning around and the photo was perfectly clear. We expected her to be blurry, but you can clearly see her face. I love that it's so good at capturing movement because it's great to take on family vacations so I can get clear pictures of my kids. My daughter took photos of her toys indoors and the camera has a flash. The images were bright and clear. The device has a beautiful design, it is comfortable to hold and use. I love rose and white gold! It even comes with a carrying strap which I later attached. It may seem strange to talk about a charging cable, but this is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. It has what appears to be fabric trimmings and rose gold accents. I think this design will hold up better than my plastic cords that always seem to break. The sprocket is about the size of a smartphone, but a little thicker. It fits easily in my back pocket. My daughter spent the rest of the evening selecting and photographing some of her favorite things, editing some of the photos in the app, adding fun overlays, and then printing them out and attaching them to her school binder. When my 6 year old son saw what she was doing, he had to try it too. This device is very easy to use and ideal for those who don't have a printer or don't know how to use it. If you're looking for a gift for that person who seems to have everything, this is a great choice. It will be a great gift for children and teenagers. That doesn't mean I just let the kids have theirs. I also really like this gadget. It will be great for a vacation, especially if you keep a journal. I look forward to taking these with me on our next trip so I can take photos, remove the backing to stick in my journal and write down your memories alongside the photo. The whole family can do this together. 'Cause really how often do you come home after a trip and print out your photos? This will facilitate the preservation and dissemination of these memories. It would also be great for school events and photo booths. I am attaching some photos from our first day using the Sprocket 2 in 1. These are photographs of photographs so they are a little darker than they appear in real life but I hope this gives you an idea of the quality of the photo.
