This item is great and I've had it for many months many months. Before I fully installed it in the old PC, it traveled around trying to get the old PCs to work and see how they worked. It is currently on my old computer. This computer does not support SATA and only has IDE, but I have a SATA card. Since I'm using Linux, it can't access the SATA card via the BIOS, and on top of that there's a software RAID setup. So I just created a 4GB partition, installed grub on it and made sure the initrd images included the SATA and RAID drivers. The system used to have 10 disks combined in a RAID array to create massive storage, but this adapter helped me downsize to 2 x 1TB disks in RAID 1 with SATA in a cool and efficient way (50 W saved and the room got a lot quieter). Since it is an IDE, any operating system can use it. So if you do anything like me then this is a must see. However, depending on the position and design of IDE slots on your motherboard, it may slide out. On one system I had to tape it to hold it, on the other system it would fit and not fall out. Make sure your CF card supports DMA, otherwise you will get stuck in PIO mode which is CPU intensive. and slow.
