I followed Consumer's example and bought it mainly to hold the lid for the overly bright Xbox home button in place. You can buy a set of stickers for about the same price, but reviews are mixed at best. Also, I wanted to avoid sticky goo on my new controller as I literally put duct tape on my Xbox One controller for the same issue. For the photos I cut out a piece of iron-on fabric to tuck under the cover and it works great. It's a material with a certain flexibility, so you won't find it difficult to press the button if you want to. Previously, I glued a piece of a flash drive, which prevented me from using the button. I might go back and add another layer for better blackout since I'm playing with a projector and always want to cut out extraneous light. As for the lid itself. It's easy and pretty neat. The location of the buttonholes is good. It takes a bit of getting used to compared to the bare controller, especially for the launch/select/share buttons. Ironically, this made the controller a bit slippery for me, but not so much that I took it off and lost my light dimming. The thumb caps were difficult to put on but nothing special so I didn't bother.
