My kids love going outside in the cold, rain, wind and mud and this jacket has been with my son all the way. While he doesn't usually stay out in the rain long enough to get soaked, this padded jacket will keep him warm and toasty for the 45 or so minutes he plans to be outside before declaring he's too cold and coming back. Then hang up the jacket, let it dry and shake off dried dirt or wipe it off quickly with a damp cloth. The next day it is ready for the next wearing. I watched it twice and it hasn't shrunk or gone. All in all this is a very good jacket for an active boy.
