I bought two of these heaters, one for the office and one for the living room. I had two identical candles on each of them. The one in my office works great, but I also sit next to her and fiddle with the wax as it melts. The one in our living room is on the bedside table next to our new leather sofa. Today, as I sat on the opposite side of the couch from the heating pad, I was suddenly sprayed with hot wax. I believe that the heater gets very hot and the bottom of the candle melts faster than the top layer. This creates a lot of pressure which eventually explodes and breaks through the hard top coat, spraying the wax everywhere. I've tried removing the wax from our sofa with a leather cleaner and we'll see if that works. Luckily we have a protection plan that covers the wax so worst case scenario we have to replace that area of skin (or whatever they do). So yes, the heater definitely works, but be careful what you put next to it.
