Let me start by saying that everything I'm saying applies ONLY to the 2013 FLSTC (Softtail Heritage Classic). This may or may not apply to your trip. Reading the reviews there seems to be some confusion as to what these things are and aren't. To be clear, they are a direct replacement for the existing passenger footpegs. I say this because there are no assembly parts other than those shown in the photos. I received them a few days ago. It took me longer to unzip them and find the tools I need to install than actually installing them. During my ride, the footpegs are held in place by a short metal pin held in place by a small snap ring. Installation was as follows: β’ Remove the retaining ring (then return it to its "original" shape), β’ Pull on the pin, β’ Pull on the pin (and spring seat), β’ Align the hole in the Spring plate with what is inside the board, β’ insert the board, β’ press in the locking pin, β’ press in the locking clip. β’ Rinse and repeat for the other side. Attached photos show the HD footpeg fasteners. If you don't have it (or something similar), you may have trouble installing it. Other photographs show the baseplate in both the "inverted" and "working" positions.
