Review on Walker 83389 Converter Calcat Obdii by Jaime Benenati

Revainrating 4 out of 5

No problems so far, despite uneven flanges. 06 Forester NA

Installed on a 2006 Subaru Forester LL Bean SOHC NA New York 4 stars because the flanges that connect to each head are not in the same plane. In the carb incompatible version someone noticed this after running the install and then came back. When I received mine, I first checked for discrepancies and found the same uneven flanges (carefully place the assembly on a flat surface and they should both lie flat on the surface, but not the same as the review I read). This worried me so I went to my local parts department and asked them to take mine from storage and found the exact same uneven flanges. They sell the same make and part number as this one for $769. So I went ahead and installed. No leaks so far, no issues, the flanges sit flush at the advertised torque of 22.9 (anywhere between 22-23 ftlbs). Make sure you tighten the head bolt (23 ftlbs) starting with the center bolt, the next two, then check the center bolt again. Make sure you have 3 CAT automotive outlet nuts and bolts. Make sure ALL THREE gaskets are new! 2x head connection, 1x outlet connection (13ftlbs).
