Review on Auto Meter 2303 Autogage Tachometer by Vince Dickey

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good value tachometers as spares

I bought this to replace a similar size and priced Sunpro tachometer I bought about 5 years ago. I like this one better. I attached it to the steering column with a cable tie (not included). The case of this tachometer is made of plastic while the Sunpro had a metal case. Looks good so I don't mind changing the material. I want it to last a lot longer than Sunpro. Now Sunpro had very long wires that could reach the fuse box and MSI ignitor box. I didn't even try to reach the autometer wires. I simply used wire connectors to tie them to an old Sunpro wire I cut off under the dash. The Sunpro also came with an approximately 18-inch wire sleeve to hide/tie the wires from the sensor where they run under the dash. I reused this on the Autometer gauge because it didn't come with it. The Sunpro gauge also had much thicker wires than the Autometer. The autometer cables are dainty. I'm not sure if they make the wires thinner than Autometer wires. They work great but I would have preferred the thicker wires that come with the Sunpro. My sensor works great and I expect it to last longer than the Sunpro but thought I'd go ahead and point out where Autometer saved some money.
