I got tired of the external card reader cluttering up my desk (and taking up a front USB port) so I bought this internal unit. I've tested CF, SDHC (8GB), and Pro Duo slots (I don't actually have a Pro Duo card, but it works with a microSD card in a Pro Duo adapter). The device works fine on my computer, wins Windows XP and recognizes all 8GB of my SDHC card. Each slot has its own drive letter. It clutters up the "My Computer" window a bit, but I think it allows you to access more than one card at a time (as opposed to one drive letter for the entire device). The USB port will appear as a new drive letter. only if something is connected with it. I calculated the transfer speed of the SD slot and used my Transcend 8GB Class 10 card to copy around 500MB of images to my Caviar Green 5400RPM SATA hard drive in around 10 seconds. 50 MB/s is fast enough for me. That means my full 8GB card should transfer in less than 3 minutes. As mentioned, the CF slot is very shallow as can be seen in the photos I uploaded. Doesn't matter? How clumsy are you to crash into the front of your turret and damage your CF card? I think I'll worry about that as much as breaking the DVD drive.
