Powerful feature set but a bit unstable

I bought this to replace more expensive Cisco devices that have network limitations (e.g. ASA5505 and 871W). The main features I liked about this model: Multi-VLAN capabilities and routing between VLANs. Ability to bind multiple WiFi SSIDs to one device. Big. IPSEC VPN capabilities are built into the device. Can be used as an EZVPN client in NE mode. The price of this small business line was also much lower than the high-end Cisco devices. Now for the cons: If you've read other posts about code instability and configuration, it's a bit of a hassle to deal with. You're right. I found a few bugs related to the ability to configure and keep VPN items running, but I was able to find workarounds that didn't require restarting the RV every night. when accessing certain content from the Internet, which I think means that the device is dropping packets somewhere, but this has not been confirmed. No built-in PoE (a port or two would be awesome). As with any other version 1 code release, I assume it still won't be too polished, but I hope Cisco releases a new code release soon. Considering the cost of the device and hopefully some more code changes to stabilize some features, this product is a great buy compared to other SOHO models.

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Infinitely sluggish
