(Update: NO) Would I buy again. Of course.

UPDATE: After using the conical shape for about 10 infusions, it broke. At the 8th weld, the ball valve broke and was replaced. I drilled a well for a thermometer and installed a sampling valve. Constant leakage due to poor thread casting on the mold line. Buy a supply of Teflon as you will use quite a bit of it. - The thread on the block has snapped in the ball valve, rendering it unusable. The plastic is very thin at the base near the 1/16" thread casting, not like the 1/8" on the sides and top. Conclusion: In a way, I'm glad I had the opportunity to try tapered threads. BUT the processing quality is missing in the critical area. I wanted this to work, but it didn't work. *Suggested manufacturing fixes are to manufacture a threaded insert with a stainless steel gasket for the base (e.g. sink plumbing) and use a stainless steel ball valve. a home brewer who wants to try their hand at a conical fermentor. Really solidifies yeast, hop pellets and normal sediment in the drip pan. I have a few reservations about this product. The molding of the plastic was rough, leaving many plastic rims on both the top and bottom of the jar, allowing gas or liquid to escape. The thermometer sleeve was not cast in plastic, which requires the brass tube to be wrapped in Teflon tape and screwed in, then removed and cleaned before each brew to prevent infection. I hate applying and removing so much teflon pipe tape! Fast Ferment would benefit greatly from better handling, a built in thermometer and a larger 1 1/2" or 2" reset valve. But for money, if that's not the case. no leakage, it's worth the effort.
