They are great for cooking! I argued because they're a little more expensive than a roll of parchment paper, but much more convenient, easier, and less wasteful than parchment paper circles and poke holes to make your own liner. I originally bought this to cook for my husband and I but we have since decided to make our own baby food for our little one too and it's great! I have a double decker steamer and when I'm cooking for a small one it's so easy and quick to switch out several different veggies. I just toss one of these in the steamer basket, add veggies for the little one, steam it, then I take out the vegetables and liner and repeat. This means I don't have to wash the steamer between meals. In fact, I didn't even have to wash the steamer with it. Just rinse it out when I'm done. (I haven't cooked any meat with it before, so it may need a more thorough cleaning.) They fit perfectly in my 10" bamboo steamer. I bought my steamer from a local Asian market so it's not a Joyce Chen steamer but they fit and work great. therefore a more thorough cleaning may be required.)
