I really like the snap closure. Fits my AT4040

I was motivated to buy a new shock absorber because I have an AT4040 and have found that getting it from the vocal mic stand to the tilting table stand I use for the use recording . Acoustic guitar because I only have one microphone. Anyone who has used a stock AT4040 shock can attest that installing and removing it with any regularity quickly becomes a frustration. I will tell you both the good and the bad. I suspect that inserting and removing my mic from the mounting clip will cause cosmetic wear to the black finish over time. I definitely wouldn't put a thousand dollar mic there for that reason. The AT4040 is in the low-to-mid range and I will most likely never sell it. Even the native mount leaves signs of wear on the case. I treat all of my musical equipment like work equipment and will show signs of wear over time. I personally love it when great guitarists play well deserved scarred instruments, but I think it should be considered if it matters to you. Isolation that this cheaper light doesn't offer. But at least it doesn't seem to have affected me so far. I guess I just don't have much exposure to the mic stands I use. I can't say anything about durability. To be honest, given the price, I'd be shocked if it lasted longer than a year or so, but if you're not too picky about your stuff and are careful with it, I suspect it'll be fine for a while becomes . The only area I think might be weak is the corner wing latch, which just doesn't tighten as much as I'd like before it hits the maximum torque position. If something gives way over time, then it's most likely a connection. What I really like about this item is the clamp and release mechanism as it is much easier to use than the native AT4040 isolation mount which is clamped deeply with rubber bands that are difficult to reinsert. There's no question that the Native is also made of slightly better materials, but it's not quite designed for such regular entry and exit. Wine - I also have a pop filter that seems to work for me. I used to use a much larger round pop filter on a flex arm and just found it very distracting and "thrown in the face". In addition, it needs constant adjustment as it decreases over time. I prefer the compact type of mic mount that comes with this kit. I ended up buying a second one so both of my mic stands use this mount and I could move between them very quickly. FINAL IMPORTANT WARNING for AT4040 owners. A: If you have an AT4040, remember that there are two raised switches on the bottom rear of the mic (to enable dB pad and a high-pass filter). You may want to mount the mic low enough in the clamp so that the slightly raised switches are UNDER the bottom of the clamp to avoid putting too much pressure on these switches. However, this means that the wider part of the microphone is in the middle of the clamp, which means more pressure on the body. To alleviate this I stretched the clamps wide to try to relieve the mic I stuck in. (The AT4040 is definitely in the upper range for this mount.)

Pros
  • Hands free
Cons
  • Very expensive
