Bought to replace my old and previously used 3DS XL. So far I like the 2DS XL. Half the time I didn't care about the 3D effect in other handheld devices, it gave me a headache to see if it was enabled or not just because of the texture of the screen. The picture quality on this screen is still excellent and it doesn't look like anything has really been lost, even when playing games like Monster Hunter 4U which I thought made use of 3D I don't feel like it i miss something Functionally, everything is similar to the 3DS, everything works perfectly, the PDA feels good in the hand. The weight difference is definitely noticeable. I can hold the 2DS longer and more comfortably than the heavier 3DS XL. A few cons that I have I've seen in other places. First, the stylus is a little annoying, at least for me. Since it sits on the side of the 3DS XL, it was easy to pull it out while gaming and put it back in when needed, although it now sits on the bottom of the PDA and also has a rounded end to match the contours of the console. , it might be a bit more difficult to pull it out and put it back into the console. Not too annoying, but annoying enough that it doesn't feel as good as the previous system. Basket and SD card cover. Again, this isn't a big problem, more of a minor annoyance. To load games or swap out the SD card, you'll need to remove the cover that's attached to the console with a sort of rubber tab. To access the game cart, you must open and hold this door while removing and inserting a game or swapping out an SD card. It's not something you're likely to do, but it's a little annoying when it used to be that easy. My final complaint has to do with the power button and its location. Personally, I've sometimes laid the bottom of the console on a table when playing on a surface and managed to hit the power button a couple of times with limited use. Again, not a huge issue, but so far in the scheme of small annoyances with this system, it's annoying to see that this trusted laptop with such a rich games library has plenty of small issues that together can be annoying. One problem, most likely, I specifically have a slight backlight on the screen, there is a thin strip of light that shines through in dark places next to the screen itself. This is not a problem for me, but may annoy others when they encounter the same error. The big question for any buyer is why is it better than the new 3DS XL. For me it was all about getting rid of the headache-causing 3D screen, the cheaper price of just $150, and the lighter weight. That being said, some might find the system layout changes disappointing, and if you enjoy the 3D effect in enough games, you probably won't want to give it up for the benefits I have myself.
