Thing is, you don't know if they're any good until they've been tested. I bought a couple of these last year and installed them on the CAT-5 wires that run between the houses of the house. A storm hit last night and blew up all sorts of things and I'm still working on fixing it all. One thing is for sure: I have one of these that is open now, and the ethernet switch it was protecting was junk too. So I would say that unfortunately they don't work. It looks like you get what you pay for. I'm looking for better replacements.
