Honest review at Binders & Binding Systems

I worked in the printing center for some time, so I have a lot of experience with binding machines. This one does the job well, but it's not perfect. What can you expect at such a low price. The main reason I bought this was the detachable matrix which is perfect. They say you can get through 20 pages, but don't be fooled! I was trying to die cut 20 sheets of 20 lb paper (super thin cheap paper) and this thing fought me the whole time. The car seems relatively sturdy until you try it and feel like it's about to break. It technically beats it, but you have to shake it all the time! It's easier to just make stacks of 10. Therefore, it is not very efficient for intensive use. Another small issue I noticed is that the paper is difficult to stack properly in the machine. I'll adjust and hit as accurately as possible, but sometimes the hits come out crooked, though not always. I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong, but it's definitely annoying. Although there is a good side! It's relatively light and easy to move around when needed. It comes with a crimping tool which was unexpected and amazing. The ruler guide is set precisely, and the small adjustment lever on the left that you use to ignite the paper doesn't move when you tighten it. Which I really appreciate because everything is perfectly coordinated! All in all I can't complain. It was very affordable, got the job done when I needed it, and didn't take up too much space in my studio. As for the electric coil inserter, I haven't even tried it yet. I find the manual coil insertion quite comfortable (don't judge me!) and I'd rather not have to mess with power cords.
