Fixed Engine Warning Light For Honda Odyssey (Short Term)

I had to check my van for smog to renew my registration and had to turn off the warning light to let smog through, so I ran diagnostics and my problem was the evaporator purge valve. Had it changed to $350 (I wonder if I got ripped off?) and that seems to have helped. Drove the car about 75 miles and the warning light didn't come on again, had the mechanic plug it back in to diagnose to see if that helped and took it for a smog check and it passed with no problems. ---- ----------------To update. My warning light only lasted a few minutes. That coverage still seems pretty good, but my issue with that warning light must be something else. ------- I've been driving with the check engine light on for over a year. My mechanic said it wasn't a problem, but looking "on" all the time was a pain. I thought the gas cap might be the problem after doing a bit of internet research when it first came up. I got a new gasket for my old cap but it didn't work and I didn't want to buy a Honda brand cap for about 3x what I paid for this one so I just lived with it. I had to do a smog check to register my car and my mechanic said this light had to be off for it to go through so he reset this warning light but it came back on but not before flashing 'gas cap check", I thought it was probably the gas cap. I tried it and the check engine light went out immediately. If this doesn't last, I'll update my review here. Glad that light isn't on anymore!
