Lightbulbs work but plastic sockets don't

I bought these to replace the lightbulbs on my Christmas tree. I found that the bases installed on the bulbs did not match the bases of the existing bulbs on the tree. I had to remove the plastic sockets that were attached to the spare bulbs with the plastic sockets that were on my blown bulbs so the spare bulbs make proper contact with the terminals in the sockets.
