Review on 🎧 Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro: Superior Over-Ear Studio Headphones for Professionals by Bryan Murphy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best headphones I've ever had!

If you're looking for headphones with an almost flat response (meaning the bass isn't too noticeable and the highs aren't too harsh), this is a great option. Don't confuse the level of clarity you get with high color. These headphones are more responsive to higher frequencies, but their bass isn't muffled. The bass is very accurate. Nothing looks dirty or blurry. Everything is where it should be if that makes sense. I'm not a music lover, but I found the sound felt like it had more room to breathe and move. I think it has to do with the semi-open nature of the 880s. I actually prefer a coiled cord over a straight cord, but that's just my opinion. Velor pads are very comfortable. The build quality is fantastic. It is such a pleasure to put them on and listen to music. My advice: get an amp for the 250 ohm model, that's what I have. My motherboard has an onboard amp and DAC, which certainly helps take these headphones to the next level, but it's not as good as a dedicated amp. They sound very low and lose some detail on something like a smartphone, but that's high impedance to you. Some phones are better than others in this regard. Prior to these 880s, I had a pair of MDR-XB500s that didn't snag (I bought them for $60 and now I see they're listed for $400, right?), but they lacked a lot of precision and clarity, and wacky ones too deep bass that sometimes seemed imprecise. Make no mistake these are good low impedance headphones but I prefer the 880s. The price is great too. These are the most expensive headphones I have ever bought and I have no regrets. I suggest listening to some 80's pop/new wave/love anthems to really make these puppies shine. Classics on it sound great, along with the acoustics. The Twin Peaks soundtracks sound fantastic. The instrument and Nine Inch Nails sound great, everything sounds perfect! If you're looking for comfortable, accurate sound and good build quality (they're solid!), we'd heartily recommend them.5/5
