3M should be ashamed of the price! I bought 2 other applicators together but they are not worth half the price of this one. However, 3M appears to have made its 2216 two-piece epoxy container smaller on one side. This makes it difficult to use my other dispensers (which are identical in construction and materials). So in order not to solve this binding problem, I had to resort to this overpriced 3M applicator. When you are ready to deal with attaching and detaching 3M containers from the base, be sure to choose a non-genuine brand. I also noticed that if I slowed down my reel a bit I could use a cheaper option, but time is money here. I only got a 3 because of the price. Hope that helps.
