Review on 🐒 Swissco Tortoise Pocket Comb: Compact and Stylish Grooming Accessory by Kesha Walker

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good comb, good quality

March 16, 2015: Comparison of 5 tortoise shell pocket combs. similar combs. Here is a comparison of all 5: Group 1 - Cheapest and lowest quality: A) Conair B) Caravan France Group 2 - Average price and average quality: A) Caravan France, De Luxe, Handmade Group 3 - Highest price and best quality A) Swissco , Handwork B) Kent, Handwork, Saw Cut, OT1A. Conair ($2.49) (fine/coarse teeth). At 4 7/8 inches (very close to 5) it is the second largest length after the Caravan models. Conair has the sharpest teeth with Caravan France. They can scratch the scalp. Conairs are very fragile. After 2-3 days in the back pocket, they break in half. Because of this, I have to consider them disposable. Although the cost per comb is the lowest I use a lot of these so they are quite expensive. 1b. Caravan France ($3) (small/large teeth or all medium teeth). At 5 1/2 inches long, this comb and the other Caravan comb are the longest of the 5. The teeth look very similar to the Conair teeth and feel just as sharp on the scalp. 2A Caravan France De Luxe Handcrafted Pocket Comb Model #90391 ($7) (fine/coarse tooth). Same length as other Caravan models (5 1/2 inches). This comb is more comfortable on the scalp than 1A and 1B, but feels sharper than 3A and 3B. These combs have the best tortoiseshell coloring and marbling of the 5 types. 3A Swissco ($7.50) (all teeth are medium). 4 5/8 inches, third longest. The teeth are noticeably more comfortable on the scalp than Group 1 and Group 2.3B combs. Kent ($9) (fine/coarse teeth). 4 3/8" is the shortest of the 5. I prefer the more compact length. Very similar to Swissco with more comfortable teeth. They are all very narrow in width: about 1 1/4". Based on my small sample of only 1 or 2 combs of each type the tortoiseshell coloring and marbling is best on Caravan France De Luxe hand finishing Color and marbling of the remaining 4 are approximately the same Summary: The crests in each group are very similar As you might expect, enhanced for the most part quality will improve as price goes up Recommendation: If you've read this far you probably need a decent comb, in which case skip group 1. If you don't lose your pocket combs often, choose a comb from group 3. When you add the shipping cost, a comb that costs a dollar or two less may be worth more overall.
