Review on Natural Gas Heater: Mr. Heater Vent-Free 20,000 BTU Blue Flame - Multi-Size Option by Tsar Smithlin

Caution.Problem with these.Concerned for others.

I see I'm not the only one having a issue where the burner is doing this delayed ignition burning thing. You will get the smell of incomplete combustion as the flame will flutter at low setting . It doesn't happen immediately, but it is well explained in the other post. I bought two of these last year. I called within the warranty period about 4 times and spoke to the older and newly hired rep. I sent detailed video showing this condition and was told to try moving the thermostat and changing the temp setting which all did nothing. I ended up sending the first one back only to get one that did the same thing. Now son just brought his new born home and I made a point of checking his. I just saw his do the same thing so that was shut down immediately. Bottom line, these will go into a mode where they flutter and start filling the air with incomplete combustion gas . It has happened a number of times in the middle of night and makes a distinct noise when it starts to flutter. It doesn't stop until you turn the thermostat up a bit. I finally realized I was really stupid trying to use it. It appears from the other post that they are aware of a regulator problem. Nothing else was done to assist me or refund me so I am now looking for two new heaters to replace these. A real waste of $300.00. I have not seen any recall on these but I will be checking further on that. I will post video when I get them from my other computer. Maybe at some point I will be contacted by email if they want to assist me. I've sent no less than 8 Emails in the past. Talking on the phone was even less helpful so I'm done with that.

Pros
  • Has a limited thermostat which shuts off the flame when temp is reached
Cons
  • May not work during power outages if the thermostat requires electricity
